On behalf of everyone at CTA I would like to wish all of our members and supporters a peaceful, enjoyable, and relaxing festive break. We know that many of you will be working over the Festive period to ensure that loved ones can stay connected, appointments are kept, and communities can function. It is your hard work that will make many hundreds of Christmases this year and the importance of what you do can’t be overstated.
It has been a great year for CTA and as we approach the new year now is a good time to reflect on some of our successes. Starting earlier in the year we have now successfully completed our move to our new Manchester office. This move has meant that we are now at the transport hub of the northern powerhouse, meaning we are better connected to those we seek to influence, as well as our members.
The move to Manchester has coincided with significant investment in our staff team to enable us continue to work with our members in providing inclusive and accessible transport. Gareth Blackett joined us as our Director of Policy and Practice, Charlotte Hughes as our Director of Marketing and Development, Tom Jeffery as our Marketing and Business Development Executive and James Coe as our Executive Assistant. Their work has already yielded significant benefits. We have now achieved 1,000 monthly blog views and an improved social media presence, we are consistently and effectively contributing to major policy developments. We have undertaken significant work in business development, culminating in our hugely successful Westminster Conference.
Our Westminster Conference we hosted a couple of months ago was a huge success. The variety of speakers from all across the transport industry meant that the event was informative, as well as an important occasion where we could get out and speak to our members. The Institute of Civil Engineers provided a wonderful backdrop to a day of policy discussions, debate, and information on the future of the transport sector. Events like this are only made possible by the enthusiastic participation of our members, and the support of our corporate sponsors. We’ve already started planning for next year’s conference and we hope that our members will again join us in such large numbers.
Finally, a word about our plans next year. Next year marks the 30th Anniversary of the CTA. It is an exciting time to work in transport with the opportunity for us to work together to shape the future of inclusive and accessible transport. In the next year we will also be looking for a Chair for our Trustee Board, if you know someone who you think would be suitable, or wish to apply yourself, you can find more information here: http://www.ctauk.org/news/?ID=172. In the meantime don’t forget to follow our blog for the latest news on our work.
In the meantime from everyone at CTA we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!
